Reading Progression
Power of Reading
English
- Stronger emphasis on vocabulary development, grammar, punctuation and spelling (for example, the use of commas and apostrophes will be taught in KS1);
- Handwriting – not currently assessed under the national curriculum – is expected to be fluent, legible and speedy;
- Spoken English has a greater emphasis, with children to be taught debating and presenting skills
Reading Ambassadors!
Meet our reading ambassadors! We have a group of children from Year 5 and 6 who have a very important job to do! This group of children love to read and are working to promote reading around our school. We meet every week to discuss ways in which we can do this!
You might see them around the library or enjoying a good book!
Happy reading!
