The Calculation Policy describes the methods that will be used to teach adding, subtracting, multiplication and division. It sets out exactly what the child will be expected to write down when using these four operations. It does not give a detailed description of mental methods taught.
The policy is set out in stages, rather than year groups.
The aim is to have a steady progression of understanding in Maths as your child moves through the school. Different methods are taught, but they have been chosen to build on one another, according to the level your child is working at, rather than which year group they are in.
